Kamala Harris’ husband accused of slapping his ex-girlfriend at Cannes Film Festival

Doug Emhoff, the husband of the Democratic candidate for the American presidential election, Kamala Harris, allegedly slapped his ex-wife in public during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, reports the Daily Mail.

These allegations were reported by three friends of Mr. Emhoff’s then-girlfriend. The woman’s identity has not been revealed, but she has been nicknamed “Jane” by the British media outlet.

The act was allegedly committed while the couple was waiting in the valet line in May 2012. Doug Emhoff, who was drunk at the time, allegedly hit the woman he had been seeing for three months because he accused her of having flirted with another employee of the valet service, when Jane had handed 100 euros to the worker, placing her hand on his shoulder, in order to get past the line.

“What she told me was very clear. She said she had a date with a man at the Cannes Film Festival and he hit her,” the source told Daily Mail.

Another friend of Jane’s, in whom she also confided, maintains that she did not at all anticipate the blow she received.

“She said he turned her around, grabbing her by her right shoulder and she was caught completely off guard. He hit her so hard she would have spun around. She was in a state of total shock,” said the individual.

The latter adds that Jane, furious, then hit Doug Emhoff on both cheeks.

According to a third source, this incident led Jane to end the relationship.

The woman’s three friends maintain that she would have immediately wanted to leave Emhoff and return to the hotel without him, but that he would have imposed his presence in Jane’s car.

The latter then asked him why he had hit her. He allegedly replied that she had flirted with the valet.

“She then realized he was not good company. “It’s the first time she saw her bad side,” says one of Jane’s friends.
