No flights departing from Charleroi and Brussels airports, small disruptions in Liège, some arrivals also canceled… This Tuesday’s strike has an impact for many travelers. Between those who are leaving and those who were to arrive, there are thousands to suffer the consequences of this strike movement.

This is the case of Barbara and Rafael, Sachin and Beha, Thierry, Lorena, Victor, Jean… Holidays for some, business for others, everyone is angry at this big inconvenience.

For Barbara and Rafael, it’s a honeymoon that ends abruptly. The couple who were taking it easy in Tanzania will not immediately return home to Portugal. They are stuck in Belgium: “Brussels-Lisbon was our last connection, but we had no idea of the strike. It was really a surprise. I think I’m going to send a scathing e-mail to our travel agency, because they should have informed us,” she confides to Nieuwsblad.

Sachin and Beha also had no idea that the Belgians were on strike, after having spent 20 days in our flat country: “We simply went to the airport where we learned that there was no longer any of flight. We asked to change our tickets, but the Turkish Arilines staff told us they were not authorized to do so. We have to contact the airline ourselves, but our phones don’t work because we have an Indian SIM card. We have to pay out of pocket for a hotel stay, which will cost us another hundred euros. It’s a shame our vacation has to end like this.”

Thierry was leaving for work, he had to give Taïchi courses in Greece: “I did a quick calculation, I’m at a loss of more than 4,600 euros, not counting the people who have the hotel there- low in Greece, which will lose around 1,800 euros. It’s a real disaster. For the return, as I have to change it too, it’s also a loss: the boats that I had reserved for the outward and return journeys are not refundable either,” he explains to RTLInfo in disappointment.

Lorena plans to spend the night at the airport with her book… She has no other choice anyway.

Victor returns from a long two-month trip and was transiting through Brussels before returning to his home in Porto, but he finds himself stuck here against his will. The man, tired, will have to manage to get home on time: “I now have to go to Amsterdam by train, because otherwise I will have to stay here two or three days. Tomorrow I will take a flight to Madrid. From Madrid I will find another way to get to Porto. »

Finally, Jean, a 75-year-old Belgian, wanted to go to Spain with his wife and friends. His plane will normally depart from Ostend: Finally, we arrive at our destination an hour later than planned. It’s a bit of a detour, but it’s not too bad. “, he confides.

“Day without planes” this Tuesday at Zaventem airport: “We were supposed to leave from Brussels, ultimately it will be from Ostend”
