Cat walks nearly 1,450 km to get home

A cat that got lost in Yellowstone National Park in the United States traveled nearly 900 miles in two months to get home.

It was during a walk in this Wyoming park last June that Susanne and Benny Anguiano lost their Siamese, Rayne Beau.

According to CNN, the two Americans from California had just started their trip when the two-and-a-half-year-old animal disappeared.

Despite daily searches, Mr and Mrs Anguiano were unable to find him and decided to return home.

“We had to leave without him,” Anguiano told CNN. “That was the hardest day. I felt like I was abandoning him.”

Finally, 60 days after she went missing, the couple received a notification about the location of a cat with the same ID number as Rayne Beau, CNN reported.

The latter was in fact found in Roseville, California, about 300 km from his home in Salinas. He was then taken to the Placer Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals before being able to be reunited with his home and his owners.

The couple say they don’t quite understand how he managed to travel so many miles, but are happy to have him back.
