Emmanuel Macron salutes the “courage” of Arman Soldin

The Prime Minister also hailed the “courage of the journalists” engaged in reporting at “the risk of their lives”, after the “tragic death” of AFP’s video coordinator in Ukraine.

“He was at the front to establish the facts”. Emmanuel Macron praised this Tuesday evening on Twitter the “courage” of Arman Soldin, a journalist from Agence -Presse killed during a rocket attack in eastern Ukraine.

“With courage, from the first hours of the conflict he was at the front to establish the facts. To inform us” wrote the President of the Republic on the social network, adding “to share the pain of his relatives and all his colleagues”.

The “tragic death” of Arman Soldin recalls the “courage of the journalists” engaged “at the risk of their lives”, according to Elisabeth Borne who addressed her thoughts to the relatives of the killed journalist.

“The tragic death of Arman Soldin, journalist at AFP, while he was covering the war in Ukraine, reminds us of the courage of journalists who undertake to inform us at the risk of their lives”, wrote the Prime Minister on Twitter.

Victim of a salvo of rockets near Chassiv Iar

Aged 32, Arman Soldin was in the company of four colleagues, who are all unscathed, and Ukrainian soldiers when they were caught in the salvo of rockets in the vicinity of Chassiv Iar, a Ukrainian locality near Bakhmoutwhich is targeted daily by Russian forces.

An experienced image reporter previously posted in London, Arman Soldin had been the video coordinator in Ukraine since September 2022 and traveled very regularly to the front lines. He was also part of the AFP team that covered the very first days of the Russian invasion.
