Switzerland must pay all contributions, suggests a French senator

For Cyril Pellevat, senator from Haute-Savoie, it is in Switzerland’s economic interest to have unemployed cross-border workers who are better compensated in France.

At the beginning of the month, cross-border workers residing in France and working in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Germany or Belgium breathed a sigh of relief: the French Ministry of Labor announced thathe gave up on reforming unemployment compensation for these workers. One of the options considered was to drastically reduce the amount of their expensive allowances. This measure was to come into force from 1is January 2025. But the authorities ultimately considered that it would be unconstitutional and contrary to European Union law.
