Winter and the spread of viruses are once again putting pressure on the emergency rooms of the Jura Hospital. The H-JU indicated in a press release on Friday that the number of people in the service was increasing sharply. Peaks in attendance sometimes result in relatively long waiting times. Some patients must, in fact, wait more than three hours before being treated. The H-JU therefore calls on the population to go to the Mediqo hotlines in Delémont or to the Porrentruy polyclinic in the event of minor ailments. “We could absorb even more people on the Mediqo side. In the emergency room, the most disturbing factor is often this waiting time. Patients struggle to understand it,” explains the communications manager of the Jura Hospital, Olivier Guerdat.

The H-JU reminds that the most serious cases are always treated as a priority. Patients with less serious emergencies such as sore throat, flu or even mild trauma are therefore invited to go to medical clinics or to their general practitioner. “You will wait much less and you will help to relieve emergency room congestion,” underlines Olivier Guerdat.

The Jura Hospital reminds us that you must call 144 for vital emergencies without wasting a minute. /comm-alr
