While crossing the Vendée Globe, skipper Romain Attanasio discovered that he was going to be the father of a boy again, thanks to a surprise organized by his partner and his children.
Entering the Vendée Globe for the third time, Romain Attanasio experienced a moment rich in emotions on Wednesday, in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
During a video with his partner Laurie Phaï, a former table tennis player, and his two children, the skipper opened a special envelope slipped into his boat before departure. Inside: the reveal of the sex of her future baby.
The surprise had been carefully orchestrated by his partner, the only one to know the information. It’s a boy, as Attanasio announced to his visibly delighted family.
“As if we didn’t have enough with two!” joked the 47-year-old sailor, while his two children burst out with joy in front of the camera.
A third boy for the skipper
Already the father of two boys, this new upcoming birth adds to a busy family life for the sailor.
But it will be several more weeks before the family can reunite. Romain Attanasio, who is sailing aboard the Imoca Fortinet – Best Western, is currently en route to Cape Leeuwin, 1965 miles behind race leader Charlie Dalin.
He currently occupies 15th place in the general ranking.
