Authorities in the Dominican Republic announced Friday the seizure of 9.5 tons of suspected cocaine, the largest in the country’s history.

In two containers, “a total of 320 bags were detected, containing 9,588 kilograms of a substance presumed to be cocaine” intended for Belgium, said Carlos Devers, director of Communications of the National Drug Control Directorate. (DNCD), during a press conference.
