On November 29, 2024, Côte d'Ivoire celebrated the return of two of its gendarmes, arrested au Burkina Faso on September 19, 2023, while they were on a mission to fight against illegal gold mining. Their return is part of a happy outcome, made possible thanks to the mediation of the Togolese Republic.

THE gendarmes had been arrested during an operation aimed at combating illegal gold panning in the region, which had caused great concern among the Ivorian authorities.
