“This cavity was not there before. It probably formed when she was standing on it,” a police officer explained to TF1. According to the latest information, an abandoned coal mine is the cause of this hole.

To try to find Elizabeth Pollard, the search teams first entered the mine, which was difficult to access. Due to the excessive risk of collapse, the police opted for another technique. They widened the hole to get inside and be able to install microphones and cameras.
