‘Corrupt, incompetent’: Trump rails against Biden at rally

Donald Trump on Tuesday unleashed a torrent of invective against his Democratic rival Joe Biden, which failed to erase the very painful impression left by his performance during the first presidential debate.

It was the first public appearance by Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate in November, who has so far remained out of the spotlight amid speculation about Joe Biden’s health.

“This is the greatest cover-up in political history,” Trump said during a 75-minute speech at a campaign rally at his golf resort in Miami.

“As you know, they are all co-conspirators in the sinister plot to deceive the American public about the cognitive abilities of the man who occupies the Oval Office,” he said.

“Corrupt, incompetent, cognitively impaired” were the words Trump used to denigrate Joe Biden, as the crowd simmered in temperatures of around 39 degrees.

In an address riddled with exaggerations and lies, Trump accused his rival of regularly disappearing from the Oval Office, leaving his son, Hunter, who was convicted of illegal gun possession, to govern the United States with the help of first lady Jill Biden.

The former president (2017-2021) also challenged his rival to participate in another debate without a moderator and invited him to come and play a game of golf.

“It will be one of the most watched sporting events in history, perhaps bigger than the Ryder Cup or even the Masters,” he quipped.

“If he wins, I’ll give to the charity of his choice, any charity, $1 million. But I bet you he won’t take me up on that offer,” he continued.

At the big gathering, the influential Latino senator from Florida, Marco Rubio, whose name is circulating as a future running mate for Mr. Trump, was in the front row among the audience.
