This Friday, Le Figaro and RTL reveal a new twist. According to the two media, which rely on sources close to the case, two traces of unknown human DNA were discovered on the bones and clothes of little Emile. It is still the Bordeaux forensic hematology laboratory which made these findings. If these DNA traces are partial and degraded, it is certain that they do not belong to any member of Emile’s family.
The investigators nevertheless specify that it is possible that these two DNA traces come from accidental contamination. For example by the hiker who brought the skull to the police or by experts from the gendarmerie. As RTL relays, even if they take all precautions, it may happen that they inadvertently leave behind DNA. “With humidity and after a certain time, masks and gloves can become porous and allow cells to escape,” General Hubert Bonneau, Director General of the National Gendarmerie, explained to our colleagues.
The mystery therefore remains unsolved in this affair and the investigators are continuing their work…
