raises its voice. French President Emmanuel Macron called for a halt “immediate” of all “violating actions” to the implementation of the ceasefire in Lebanon, reports the Elysée on Friday November 29, on the third day of this truce concluded notably under the aegis of France.

During successive telephone conversations on Thursday with the Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, and the President of the Lebanese Chamber of Deputies, Nabih Berri, Emmanuel Macron “called on all parties to work towards the full implementation of this ceasefire” et “signaled that all actions that contravene this full implementation must cease immediately”details the Elysée.

Earlier Thursday, the Israeli army announced that it had carried out an airstrike against a Hezbollah facility in southern Lebanon, the first since the start of the truce between the two sides. She claimed to have acted to “thwart the threat” of a site used by the Lebanese Shiite movement “to store medium-range rockets”.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also threatened on Thursday with a “guerre intensive” in Lebanon in the event of violation of the truce by Hezbollah. The Lebanese army, which has begun redeploying troops and armor in the south of the country, has accused Israel of violating “repeatedly” the ceasefire agreement.

Friday, The Lebanese National News Agency (Ani) claimed that the Israeli army opened fire on residents of Khiam, in southern Lebanon, while they were attending a funeral. Ani did not report any casualties. Questioned by AFP, the Israeli army indicated that it had “operated to remove [des] suspects”. According to the agency, Israeli fire also injured two people in the village of Markaba, still in the south, on Thursday. Israel has declared a curfew in southern Lebanon, extended for the night from Friday to Saturday.

During his telephone interviews, Emmanuel Macron also “reiterated France's commitment to providing support to the Lebanese Armed Forces both nationally and within the framework of UNIFIL”. He also has “reiterates the need for all Lebanese actors to find a way out of the political crisis” which has shaken the country for more than two years, and welcomed Nabih Berri's convening of a session of Parliament on January 9 to elect a president.
