A new TikTok challenge that can be dangerous. For several days, a new trend born from a video of Barron Trump, the son of Donald and Melania, broadcast by CNN more than ten years ago, has invaded the Chinese social network.
In it, the little boy, barely 5 years old, is delighted with his new Louis Vuitton suitcase with which he will be able to go to school, and therefore pronounces the phrase “I like my suitcase” (“I like my suitcase”). love my suitcase”, in French). Don't try to understand why, but this video resurfaced on TikTok 14 years later and caused a sensation, so much so that a new challenge was born.
To complete this challenge, TikTok users have fun collecting a remixed audio of this video of little Barron and fitting almost entirely into a suitcase, leaving only their head sticking out and saying “I like my suitcase”.
Except that as is often the case, it is not very smart to complete the popular challenges on TikTok. American influencer Gianna Harner, who has 11.4 million subscribers on the Chinese social network, paid the price by getting into her suitcase, before it tipped over and fell to the ground. Without arms or hands to break her fall, the young woman hit her head violently on the ground and had to be helped by someone to get out of the suitcase.
In her video with 43 million views on TikTok entitled “I don't like my suitcase” (“I don't like my suitcase”, in French), we then see her in front of her mirror, crying, with a ice pack on her head where she hit the ground.
“I participated in this trend where you pack yourself into a suitcase, like an idiot. (…) Now I have a severe headache, a bump on the side of my head, I feel nauseous, it hurts to open my eyes and my head is full of pressure,” the TikToker then describes in another publication, or the symptoms of a mild concussion.
To prevent this type of mishap from happening again, TikTok had to add a warning indicating that “participating in this activity may hurt you or other people,” as Belgian media La Libre points out.
