Fribourg: Two pickpockets arrested in flagrante delicto

The Friborg police put an end to the actions of two pickpockets this Tuesday in the city of Fribourg. The two suspects, aged 30 and 37 and of Romanian origin, targeted elderly or physically disabled victims to steal money from them.

The first elements of the investigation show that the duo acted according to a precise operating method. They spotted their victims when they were withdrawing money from the ATM, then taking advantage of a moment of inattention to steal their money.

After three complaints were filed in September and November for similar thefts, a patrol spotted a man matching the description near a bank. The latter was in contact with an accomplice inside the building. The police arrested the two individuals to carry out checks.

The two suspects were interviewed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, before being placed in pre-trial detention. The investigation continues, and the police invite anyone who may have been the victim of a similar theft in recent weeks to report quickly to a police station.
