The bill plans to allow assisted suicide in England and Wales for adults with an incurable illness and a life expectancy of less than six months.
British MPs adopted on Friday November 29 at first reading a proposed law on assisted dying for certain terminally ill adults in England and Wales, after a historic vote. 330 MPs voted in favor of this proposal from a Labor representative, and 275 opposed it, following lively ethical and religious debates in recent weeks. MPs were invited to vote according to their conscience, beyond political sensitivities.

“Kill the law, not the sick”
“My death, my choice” on one side, “Kill the law, not the sick” on the other: defenders and opponents of the British bill authorizing assisted suicide for certain terminally ill patients mobilized on Friday in front of Parliament for a first vote on this text. About a hundred demonstrators in favor of this law wear pink t-shirts and hats, and hold posters that proclaim: “Give me the opportunity to choose my death”, “My life, my death, my choice”, “The dying need to have a choice”.
