An American man was declared dead and cremated in May 2021, in San Francisco, United States. He was actually alive and well and was spotted by a relative in town three years later.
He reappeared when his family believed he had been dead for three years and thought they had scattered some of his ashes in Hawaii.
The story of James Robinson, told by the San Francisco Chronicle on November 25, 2024, is completely improbable.
A body was found in a hotel room in San Francisco, in the Tenderloin district, on May 7, 2021. The man had died of an overdose. The hotel staff identifies the body as that of James Robinson, notably Brut.
What happened?
Despite inconsistencies in the physical description (height, tattoos, etc.), the forensic doctor does not question this information.
James Robinson's family is therefore informed of his death and asks that he be cremated. His relatives collected his ashes from the authorities. Part is spread in Hawaii, the other is kept in the family home in San Francisco, also reports The Parisian.
Glimpse on the street
Three years later, in July 2024, a family friend saw James Robinson in the streets of the same city, on Market Street precisely.
The family then asks for checks to be carried out. Three months later, the results came back: the DNA was not that of James, but that of Jacob Bruce Chrisinger, 47, from the neighboring state of Oregon.
The medical examiner at the time recognized his error. James Robinson was able to reunite with his loved ones and enter rehab, before voluntarily disappearing again.
