A thief who tried to get his hands on the cash register of a French bakery before leaving with a single chocolatine as meager loot would still have received eight months in prison on Monday.
Monday around 6 p.m., the robber, aged in his forties, appeared at a bakery in Bannalec in Finistère, a department in the west of France, to order a chocolatine from the saleswoman, France Bleu reported on Thursday.
Except that when paying for his pastries, the man then allegedly drew a handgun, demanding the contents of his cash register from the shopkeeper.
Unfortunately for him, the clerk, “determined not to give in anything”, would not have been impressed by her maneuver, so much so that the man would have ended up fleeing, however taking his pain au chocolat on the way, reportedly indicated the police to the local media.
The next morning, the latter would have managed to put their hands on the collar of the forty-year-old, who would have been tried in immediate appearance for his crime, according to France Bleu.
The thief would have been sentenced to eight months behind bars, as well as an additional four months for having broken the conditions of a previous suspended sentence, we can read.
He will also have to pay damages to the baker, but the amount was not specified by the French media.
