Five people were injured Monday evening in the suburbs of Tel Aviv, including a woman seriously, following a missile attack from Lebanon, according to information given by emergency services and the Israeli army.

Earlier, air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and several cities in central Israel, according to the passive defense. The army said in a statement “having intercepted a projectile […] from Lebanon. “After an inspection by security forces at the scene of the incident in Ramat Gan, it appears that the impact was caused by parts of a missile following its interception,” the army added. “A preliminary investigation by air defense systems reveals that the interceptor hit a surface-to-surface missile launched from Lebanon at high altitude and broke it into several pieces. Following the interception, part of the missile hit the ground, causing damage and casualties,” the statement concluded.

Magen David Adom, the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, reported five people injured in Ramat Gan, in the eastern suburbs of Tel Aviv, including a woman in serious condition.

AFPTV images filmed in this city show around 10 p.m. local time (8 p.m. GMT) a fire on a sidewalk at the foot of an electricity pylon and several surrounding buildings, whose windows were blown out.

Before that, the spokesperson for the Israeli firefighters announced that a woman had been killed after a rocket fell on Monday in Shfaram in northern Israel, a target of Hezbollah fire for more than a year.

According to the army, Hezbollah fired around a hundred projectiles from Lebanon towards northern Israel on Monday, while the Israeli air force continued its deadly strikes on Beirut.

So far, the Shiite party has not claimed responsibility for a missile attack on Tel Aviv.
