NARRATIVE – According to the daily “Haaretz”, the army has opened sixteen investigations into suspected crimes committed by its soldiers in the Palestinian enclave.

On Thursday, the NGO Human Rights Watch published a report concluding that « the forced displacement of the civilian population in Gaza by the Israeli army constitutes war crimes crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing ».
On Tuesday, before the United Nations Security Council, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs declared that conditions in the Gaza Strip were « unfit for human survival ». Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, are still threatened with being subject to an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court for « war crimes ». Via more political channels, the denunciation of a « genocide » has become commonplace.
