RAHIS is an innovative tool designed to improve data collection, communication and analysis of animal health information.

The Regional Animal Health Center (RAHC) of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) recently successfully completed the deployment of the Regional Animal Health Information System (RAHIS) in Assinie, Côte d’Azur. Ivory. This event marks a significant step forward in strengthening animal health surveillance and management across the region.

An intensive training session, held June 19-21, brought together a diverse group of professionals. Among them, veterinarians, animal health experts, as well as information systems specialists, all from ECOWAS member states and partner institutions. These participants benefited from practical advice on the implementation and use of the RAHIS system, reported an ECOWAS press release.

By strengthening these capacities, the system aims to strengthen the region’s capacity to monitor and control animal diseases. Through this initiative, the regional institution hopes to create a more robust and responsive network to the health challenges affecting animals in the region.

This approach is part of a broader effort to harmonize animal health management practices and systems between member countries, thus ensuring a coordinated and effective response to cross-border health threats. The success of this initiative in Assinie is a step forward towards better management of animal health in West Africa.
