Women working in the transport sector want the ratification of Convention 190, which they consider crucial in the fight against harassment at work in Senegal.

“It is with a deep feeling of satisfaction that I speak today, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the adoption of Convention 190. This project brings together several countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon , Ghana, Nigeria, DRC and Senegal, with the aim of eliminating violence and harassment in the workplace. Nigeria has already ratified the convention. Ghana, meanwhile, is two stages away from ratification and is actively working to put in place a human resources policy aimed at eliminating violence and harassment,” said Aïssata Ouédraogo, ITF Women’s Coordinator.

She also highlighted the efforts already made in Senegal: “With Sister Mariama, we have made significant progress towards the ratification of the convention. We therefore have high hopes that this ratification will be completed by December. I appeal to the Senegalese authorities so that our country is cited as an example by the end of the year, as the second country participating in the project to ratify Convention 190 of the International Labor Organization (ILO),” added Ms. Aïssata Ouédraogo during her intervention on Iradio.
