More than half a million undocumented immigrants married to Americans will no longer need to lie in wait for immigration police for fear of being arrested. On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden announced the implementation of a policy that will allow spouses of US citizens who entered US soil illegally to acquire a work permit, a permanent residence permit (green card) and later, nationality. However, not everyone will be entitled to it. Of the 1.2 million undocumented immigrants married to Americans, only those who have spent more than ten years in the United States will be eligible.
