Erdogan attacks the UN on the management of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: “The spirit of the United Nations is dead in Gaza”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ruled on Wednesday that “the spirit of the United Nations is dead in Gaza”, also calling on the “Islamic world to react” after Israeli strikes on Palestinian displaced persons camps in Rafah.

“The UN cannot even protect its own personnel or humanitarian personnel. What are you waiting for to act? The spirit of the United Nations is dead in Gaza,” declared the head of state in front of his party’s deputies .

In addition to his charge against the impotence of the international institution, the Turkish head of state, at the head of a predominantly Muslim country of 85 million inhabitants, challenged his peers in the “Islamic world”.

Strong international condemnations after a deadly strike in Rafah: “a massacre, a horror…”

“I have a few words to say to the Islamic world: what are you waiting for to make a common decision? God will hold you, will hold us responsible,” he said, saying that “Israel is not just ‘a threat not only to Gaza but to all of humanity.’

“No state is safe as long as Israel does not comply with international law and does not feel bound by international law. And this also concerns Turkey,” he continued.

“Israel and those who support it hope that we will forget this genocide: this genocide will not be forgotten” he warned: “the murder of babies, of children, the (attacks) targeting hospitals, churches, mosques will not be forgotten.”
