Drama aboard the world’s largest cruise ship: Passenger dies after jumping from deck of Icon of the Seas

The cruise passenger was found alive and was able to be brought back to the ship, but sadly succumbed to his injuries after a short stay in the liner’s intensive care unit.

The Icon of the Seas, this gigantic ocean liner – the largest in the world – was the scene of a real drama Sunday May 26. Having left Miami the day before, the ship was heading towards Honduras, when a passenger jumped from one of the 20 bridgesreports CruiseHive.

“The ship’s crew immediately notified the US Coast Guard and initiated a search and rescue operation,” explains the cruise line Royal Caribbean. Thus, for more than two hours, the 365 meter long ship remained motionless, off the coast of Santa Lucia, while numerous lifeboats were busy, as evidenced by the numerous videos taken by passengers.

A friend of mine just shared this video of Royal Caribbean Icon of the Seas. A man went overboard this morning about 300 miles from Miami in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico Captain ordered a search & rescue. After two hours it seems the man has been rescued and is alive. pic.twitter.com/XXdqoscWAK
