The war in Ukraine is still ongoing, but the situation may change in the future. Indeed, the president of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, Modem deputy Jean-Louis Bourlanges, spoke in a press release published on Sunday May 19. He calls France “to come out of one’s reserve and make a decision comparable to that of the British and the Americans”. That is to say, no longer prohibit Kiev from striking inside Russian territory with the weapons delivered to it.

The allies had actually opted for this ban in order to reduce the risk of escalation in the face of a nuclear power. However, the United Kingdom and London, which notably supplies the Ukrainians with Storm Shadow cruise missiles, authorized them, at the beginning of May, to strike Russian soil. Likewise, the United States followed last week by leaving Kiev free to choose whether to do so or not.
