The 33rd ordinary session of the Arab summit started this Thursday in Manama, capital of Bahrain, with the participation of 13 Arab leaders.

The summit will be held at the ”al-Sakhir” Palace, which is a meeting place for kings and rulers visiting the kingdom, according to the official Bahraini news agency BNA.

The League of Arab States has 22 countries, while for the first time in the history of regular and emergency summits – which began in Cairo in 1946 – Manama is hosting a meeting of the Arab League Council at the leadership level.

In addition to the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Issa al-Khalifa, 13 leaders are participating in this summit, namely: The Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Mohammed bin Rashid, vice-president president of the United Arab Emirates and prime minister, according to official data seen by Anadolu.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, King Abdullah II of Jordan as well as Iraqi Presidents Abdel Latif Jamal Rachid, Mauritanian Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, Comorian Ghazali Othmani, Palestinian Mahmoud Abbas and Djibouti Ismaïl Omar Guelleh are also taking part.

The President of the Presidential Council of Yemen, Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Manfi, and the President of the Syrian regime, Bashar al-Assad, are also participating in this summit.

Five countries are represented at this summit by a Prime Minister or a Deputy Prime Minister: Kuwait with its Prime Minister Ahmad al-Abdullah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, Morocco with its Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, Lebanon with its Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Somalia in the person of Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, the Sultanate of Oman with its Deputy Prime Minister in charge of relations and international cooperation affairs Asa’ad Bin Tariq Bin Taimur Al Said.

At the ministerial level, there is the participation of the head of Algerian diplomacy Ahmed Attaf, his Tunisian counterpart, Nabil Ammar, and the Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hussein Awad.

Arab League Deputy Secretary General Hossam Zaki said in a press statement on Wednesday that the level of participation at the Arab summit would be high.
