The Slovak president calls for “suspending” the European campaign

Published today at 12:12 p.m.

The elected president of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini on Thursday called on political parties to “suspend” their campaign for the European elections scheduled for June 8 in this central European country, the day after the assassination attempt on Prime Minister Robert Fico.

“I call on all parties to temporarily suspend or significantly reduce their campaign,” he told the press in Bratislava. “Slovakia does not need more confrontations” and “mutual accusations” at this time.
