Poll: red lights for Biden

Poll: red lights for Biden

Donald Trump is ahead of Joe Biden in five of the six key states in the 2024 presidential election, according to polls published this Monday by the New York Times and conducted jointly with Sienna College and the Philadelphia Enquirer among voters registered on the electoral lists (free link). Wisconsin is the only one of six key states where the president leads (by 2 percentage points).

Trump also leads in five states among voters most likely to vote, but Biden is close behind him in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, while ahead of him in Michigan. The president could win re-election by winning Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

But the polls of Times contain several red lights that bring grist to Fareed Zakaria’s mill. On his Sunday show on CNN, the host predicted that Trump would likely return to the White House because of his lead in polls in key states.

Biden’s difficulties can be explained in large part by the erosion of his support among young people and minorities, disappointed by his management of the economy or his response to the war in the Gaza Strip.
