A 4-month-old baby has an alcoholic coma: when making his bottle, his grandmother confused the water with white wine

The story of a baby bottle gone wrong.

On April 29, a baby was admitted to the Perrino hospital in Brindisi (Italy) in a state of ethylic coma.

An extremely emergency situation given the baby’s age: barely 4 months.

Opaque bottles

The child was in fact spending the day with his grandmother when it was time for a bottle. She then got to work and concocted the famous powdered milk for him. That’s where the accident happened.

In fact, the grandmother keeps her liquids in opaque bottles. One contains water, the other… white wine. The grandmother then filled the baby bottle with wine, according to information from La Repubblica.

A drink that the baby partly drank. The grandmother was alerted that her grandson no longer wanted it along the way. Once she realized her mistake, she called her daughter – the little one’s mother – then the emergency services.

Transported to Perrino hospital, the little one was transferred to a pediatric hospital where he has since received appropriate care. Intubated, his condition is still considered critical due to his young age.
