More than 160 delegations invited to the peace conference

(Keystone-ATS) The invitations for the Peace Conference on June 15-16 in Bürgenstock (NW) have been officially sent. The Federal Council has invited some 160 national delegations, it said on Thursday. is not invited for the moment.

The conference aims in particular to provide a platform for dialogue to achieve peace in Ukraine and to jointly define a roadmap on how to involve the two parties, recalls the government. The participation of a large number of States is crucial to achieving these objectives.

Among the guests are members of the G7, G20, BRICS, many other countries from all continents as well as the EU, three international organizations, including the UN, and two representatives from the religious world, such as the Vatican. On the other hand, Russia has not yet been invited.

As for the arrival of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the government writes that “the final list of participants will not be known until very shortly before the conference”.

“Significance beyond Ukraine”

Viola Amherd received Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Bern and assured him that was ready to organize the world summit for peace in Ukraine desired by Mr. Zelensky. On X, the President of the Confederation said she was “honored to invite world leaders to the first summit for peace in Ukraine”.

As for the Ukrainian president, he is “certain that all the peaceful nations of the world wish to participate in this summit, because its importance goes far beyond Ukraine. It is about the global role of every nation, as well as true respect for international law and peaceful coexistence throughout the world.”
