In Chad, after a transition period which lasted 3 years, Chadians will have to go to the polls on May 6, 2024 to choose their president.

As part of this , the Election Management Agency (ANGE) issued a formal ban.

Indeed, the National Election Management Agency which is in charge of organizing the election has formally prohibited the photography of the minutes of the polls during the presidential election on May 6.

The institution warns against taking any photos, at the risk of incurring the rigor of the law.

A ban which arouses suspicion among competitors for the presidential chair.

Note that the agency formulated this ban after the Prime Minister and candidate in the election, Succès Masra, during his electoral tour this weekend asked his activists to » be the sentinel of the vote » by taking images of the minutes during counting.

Following the release of the instance, the Succès Masra party, The Transformers, said it was surprised by this prohibition.

According to opposition leader Sitack Yombatina, “the law provides that the counting be done publicly and the results read aloud”.

He later wondered what “scared the Angel to the point of imposing a ban on taking photos in polling stations which was not provided for by the electoral code”.

According to RFI, in Chad, a country in central Africa, the electoral code does not provide for the display of counting reports in polling stations, nor their delivery to candidates’ representatives.

The only possibility for candidates to have access to them is to obtain these minutes later at the dismemberment of the agency, to which the polling station depends.
