The Moroccan Ambassador to Pakistan, Mohammed Karmoune, received at the Kingdom’s embassy in Islam Abad, the president of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari.

The meeting takes place in a context where Pakistan is facing natural disasters, having resulted in inestimable loss reports.

“The meeting allowed both sides to deliberate on issues of mutual interest, particularly on humanitarian assistance and disaster management. President Laghari highlighted the substantial partnership between the two nations in addressing humanitarian challenges.” Pakistani news agency APP said.

During the discussions, President Laghari provided an overview of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society’s ongoing programs and projects, highlighting the organization’s commitment to serving vulnerable communities across the country. “He stressed the importance of international cooperation and solidarity to effectively respond to humanitarian crises, expressing gratitude for Morocco’s past participation in events organized by the Pakistan Red Crescent, such as the International Donor Conference .” said the APP.

President Laghari specifically highlighted that the Pakistan Red Crescent has received the aid that was expected from the Moroccan government, particularly in the recovery phase following the devastating monsoon floods of 2022, emphasizing its strong desire to strengthen cooperation, in particular with the Moroccan government, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of vulnerable communities in Pakistan.

Ambassador Mohammed Karmoune expressed his gratitude to President Laghari for the comprehensive information and views provided on disaster management during the floods, noting the impressive execution.

The Moroccan diplomat pledged to facilitate President Laghari’s visit to Morocco, by organizing meetings with his counterparts from the Moroccan Red Crescent and leaders of humanitarian organizations.
