Will the famous Cannes Victory Palace smile on the Tourangeaux, precisely in search of a second success in the championship?

The promises to be special in any case this Saturday evening, during this Cannes – TVB poster, which has long been a classic and which returns to the program this season, following the Dragons' title of French League B champions.

Reunion with Serniotti

A trophy and an accession won under the leadership of an experienced Italian coach well known to the Grenon faithful: Roberto Serniotti, the TVB coach from 2004 to 2006, where he wrote one of the most beautiful pages of the history of the Touraine club, with this famous Champions League won in 2005!

Almost twenty years later, the time has come for a reunion during which, paradoxically, the TVB will not be the favorite on the Croisette.

First of all because he will be facing a really surprising promoted from Cannes who, with already four victories on the clock (for two defeats), occupies a good 4e MSL place. Far ahead of the Tourangeaux, only 12es with only one success for four defeats.

“We really have to respect this Cannes team”

The Dragons, with notably the sharp Egyptian Haikal, the Swedish central Ekman, the Italian receiver and big server Pierotti, the Franco-Czech Demar (back in with more experience), the Danish passer Jacobsen…, thus display a level very interesting game.

“It’s a team that hangs on a lot, a very interesting team and well coached by Roberto Serniotti, recognizes Marcelo Fronckowiak, the Touraine coach. I'm not surprised by their good start to the season. It starts with the identity of the Cannes club and even if there are players who are “less known”, they have an interesting past like the Egyptian sharp. We really have to respect this Cannes team…”

Extra efforts in training

But even more than the opponent's strengths, it is on its own game, its confidence and its ability to remain constant, that the TVB remains vigilant and determined to take a step forward. Because the Tourangeaux are experiencing a much less convincing start to the season, certainly disrupted by injuries and the suspension of Coric. The collective is struggling and slow to perform, as against (3-1 defeat) and is therefore stagnating at the end of the ranking.

But Marcelo Fronckowiak's team hopes to quickly reverse the trend. “We worked a lot all week and that really gives us hope for the future, underlines the TVB coach. This is a first step to change the situation a little. We lack a little confidence, but we still have to manage key moments, especially at the end of the set. These are small details and we are working to correct them. We worked hard but the challenge remains the day of the match. »
