exchanges of bullets between unemployed people and recruiters to get a job

Lair of the Alterna Stade Poitevin volleyball, the Lawson-Body hall in was filled… on the field, Tuesday October 8, 2024. All morning, around 150 people multiplied the passes and training matches before their eyes around ten presenters and five players from the professional team: Tom Cannesssant, Simon Gill, Franco Massimino, Tim Peter and Maxime Roatta. Among them, around a hundred job seekers and around forty recruiters representing 26 private and public employers.

“Everyone speaks informally, that breaks the rules”

Everyone took part in the second edition of the job dating “From the gym to employment”, organized by employment and integration structures (1), communities (Grand Poitiers and Department) and the French Volleyball Federation. An event for which participants mixed, without revealing their status, during sports exercises and a shared meal. After the anonymity was lifted, the candidates continued short interviews at the beginning of the afternoon with a business card.

“It’s a way for people to meet in a different way”supports Francis Dumasdelage, vice-president of the club in charge of partnerships and societal events. “The climate is more relaxed. Everyone uses familiarity, it breaks the codes”confirms Alexandra Meunier, agency manager at Randstad. And this allows employers to discover, through sport, “similar profiles, which they would not necessarily have thought of”. “This opens up the field of possibilities in a tense job market”continues Frédéric Tourneur, director of the Travail Poitiers Grand Large agency.

This job dating, which is part of Grand Poitiers Jobs Week, is the first in a long series for the ASPVB. The club will organize, on November 22, 2024, an event around disability in conjunction with France Travail and Cap emploi. Three other meetings will follow on the themes of integration, studies and work-study programs.
