Our opinion
The discovery of the first two episodes of Prime Targetonline from Wednesday January 22 – the sequel will then be broadcast once per week – leads to an undeniable observation: the series is well produced. The images are polished, the acting is up to par and the universe is intriguing with its large-scale conspiracy aspect that is being put into place.
However, it takes a while to take off and the whole thing hums along. In terms of rhythm, we are far from 24 h Chrono or movies like Memory in the skinwhich we sometimes think of… More than the action, creator Steve Thompson therefore sets up a context and dares… by installing a gay action-hero. A strong choice, quite unprecedented, which aims to separate virility from sexuality.
-As for the narration, it suffers hot and cold with, during these first two hours, a parallel montage between the two main protagonists – the second being Quintessa Swindell, seen notably in The Master Gardener by Paul Schrader – one facing the theft of his research, without suspecting the turn the story will take and the second, on a mission under the sun of Marseille and Cassis, must face the murder of his colleague .
Enough to suggest some twists and turns during this spy series, which, hopefully, will manage to take off instead of getting lost in too much chatter and explanatory scenes. Which is the case for the moment, therefore.
