Since its debut in October 2024, this new series produced in honor of the 40 years of the franchise Dragon Ball widely opened up the lore, bringing back to the table certain debates which animated the different fandoms and other pages dedicated to the universe “DBZ”. We know, for example, where Kaio Shin and the Namekians really come from. More generally, the Demon Realm is fertile ground for expanding the universe and developing new intrigues. This is in fact the first time that Goku and his friends have gone there, and with three large zones, there is plenty to do. With the release last Friday of episode 14 of Dragon Ball DAIMA, we now know that there are only 6 more episodes left before the series finds its epilogue. Indeed, the end date of the anime was revealed by mistake by the Hulu channel in its latest press release. So, “the final episode of Dragon Ball DAIMA” will be broadcast on Friday, February 28. And as the anime enters its home stretch, we are entitled to wonder what Toei Animation has in store for us as a conclusion.
What is Dr. Arinsu's final plan?
We learned more about Dr. Arinsu's dark intentions during episode 9. With the creation of Majin Kuu and Majin Duu, she plans to take over the Demon Kingdom. But by hiring Glorio to watch over Goku and Shin and wanting above all else to recover the Dragon Balls, we wonder what important wish she plans to ask Shenron. We will undoubtedly know more in the next episodes.
What does the series plan to do with Majin Kuu and Majin Duu?
It is an understatement to say that Majin Duu and Majin Kuu disappointed. Goku's Badass Enemies Fans Expected Finally Revealed To Be two beings very close to Buu, crossed with Saibaman, for an aesthetically questionable result. We know that in addition to the involvement of (the late) Akira Toriyama on the character design, Majin Duu was brought to life thanks to the talent of seiyū Fukushi Ochiai, known for his roles in One Piece or Boruto. If they were created to defeat the Tamagami and allow Arinsu to get his hands on the Dragon Balls, we imagine that the series is preparing us a big final fight against the Z Fighters. But to form an evil figure that lives up to fans' expectations, Toei must concoct a beautiful fusion between the two characters, for example thanks to the little insects seen in episode 4. And to complete the loop, Goku and Vegeta could also merge into Vegeto.
Who is Neva really?
The old Namekian is undoubtedly one of the most mysterious characters in anime, in more ways than one. Appearing senile, he allows Gomah to grant his wish by reducing Goku, Vegeta and the others to the state of children, then removes the barriers which separate the different levels of the Demon Kingdom. We also know that he is the creator of the Tamagamis, these powerful creatures supposed to protect the kingdom. Further proof that Neva has very great powers. Which may seem worrying. As the anime progresses, and more is known about his abilities, we feel like we see the plot twist coming, and discover its true intentions.
-What's next after Dragon Ball DAIMA?
As with every end of season, we wonder if the series in question will continue. Dragon Ball DAIMA is obviously no exception to the rule, and the idea of a season 2 following torments fans as the series comes to an end, in February. But considering the fact that the series was produced to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the first publication of Dragon Ball in Weekly Shōnen Jump, it is likely that no follow-up was consideredand that it was only designed as a simple event series. Especially since we know it also takes place just before the Battle of the Gods arc which marks the launch of Dragon Ball Super. Two factors that do not work in favor of a sequel. But what to do with the new characters introduced, such as Neva, Arinsu, Gomah, Glorio and the others? There are a lot of things to tie up in the remaining six episodes in order to best fit the series into the timeline DBZ and reconnect it with its sequel.
