This heartwarming family series has caught the eye of Netflix subscribers

At the end of 2024, Netflix added a series from the 2010s to its catalog. Subscribers immediately adopted it and are already recommending it to those around them.

A few weeks ago, Netflix added a few cult series to its catalog. In addition to the comedy series, acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, Schitt's Creekanother six-season comedy and drama series has appeared on the platform. It is about Parenthoodbroadcast between 2010 and 2015 in the United States. On French television, it first had its place on TF1 before migrating to the HD1 channel, which became TF1 Séries et Films. Parenthood tells the story of the Braverman family, spanning three generations. All its members live in Berkeley, California, and must manage both their sometimes conflicting relationships with their parents, brothers, sisters, and children, and their own lives. The arrival of this series on Netflix made it possible to introduce it to a new audience. On the Netflix Facebook group managed by Leisure many are the conquered.

Internet users love Parenthood and highly recommend it

“I came across it by chance and started watching. I'm on season 2 and I intend to see it through to the end. It's very much in the spirit of This is us : endearing characters, good vibes, situations where everyone can recognize themselves”notes an Internet user. Another abounds: “Six seasons but we never tire of it. At the end, we're even sad not to have any more episodes and to no longer see the characters.”

Netflix could offer a second chance for success to Parenthood

Parenthood is in fact the adaptation of a film of the same name released in 1989 by Ron Howard with Steve Martin and Keanu Reeves. For the series, showrunner Jason Katims relied on other actors, well known to the general public. We find there in particular Peter Krause, adored by fans of Six Feet Under Shepard or even Lauren Graham, that fans of Gilmore Girls know well. Although the series received a few awards when it was broadcast across the Atlantic – including a Critic's Choice Award – it never received unwavering support from the public. Despite its six seasons, Parenthood struggled to establish itself as an essential series in the 2010s. An error which could well be rectified thanks to Netflix.
