André and Jeanne fell in love in 1939 in the castle of Sillé-le-Guillaume. They were college students then. Without children, they decided to bequeath their heritage of 600,000 euros to the town to preserve the place of their meeting. Thanks to the couple’s bequests, the town can continue renovating the building. The reopening of the castle is planned for 2026. In the room dedicated to its history, there will also be that of Jeanne and André Guittet and their love.
