Unlike the talk show hosted by Yann Barthès on TMC, who deleted his account in 2023, the journalist believes that we should not “desert” the platform owned by billionaire Elon Musk.
“We all ask ourselves questions about that”. Élise Lucet wonders this Thursday, January 16 on the set of “Quotidien” about the Elon Musk phenomenon. Without exercising any official function, the businessman invited himself into geopolitics.
Ally of Donald Trump, Elon Musk has distinguished himself in recent days with attacks against the governments of European countries. The influence of the businessman who owns Tesla and the platform on advertisements and deception on certified accounts. Investigations are also being carried out into possible manipulations of the algorithm whose aim would be to promote certain ideological content to the detriment of their opposition.
When we want to inform, we want to inform on as many channels as possible.

In response, politicians, personalities and even the media announce their desire to leave social network X, when they have not already deleted their accounts. “I think we have to continue”decides quite quickly Élise Lucet who considers that “when we want to inform, we want to inform on as many channels as possible”. “I don’t do politics, I’m a journalist”she recalls.
An opinion that is not shared on the set of “Quotidien”. Indeed, in December 2023, Yann Barthès’ talk show withdrew from the platform in reaction to the takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk. The billionaire spent $44 billion in this transaction. “Certainly a drop in the bucket, but it’s symbolic for us. Insult each other, but without us,” the host had declaimed.
Élise Lucet, however, does not commit her words to the long term: “Maybe we will make the decision in a few weeks or a few months. On behalf of France Télévisions, this is not my responsibility, but I ask myself the question with my teams for “Cash Investigation” and “Envoyé Spécial””.
