Clara Lambert, from Bastogne, is living her dream as a dancer in where she performs alongside dancers from “Dancing with the Stars”

I was in such a state of will that, at the age of 17, no longer seemed so inaccessible to me. It was a drastic and rapid change but with the support of my parents, I made it through living in a hostel for six months. Looking back, I sometimes wonder how I did it, but at the time, I only thought about my training and the fact that I would finally be able to make it my career.

How to make yourself known, find your place in this difficult world?

I never really sought to make myself known, in the first sense of the term. Making your place is a more appropriate term it seems to me. We start with a small contract, almost a food job in fact. And then, we have auditions, which work or which don’t work. I had a lot of refusals but because I participated in all the auditions that came through. Then, it’s a lot of networking. We meet this person on a contract, this person introduces us to another person who needs this profile for this project and miraculously, we correspond. One thing led to another, and we began to find a little place for ourselves. For some, it goes quickly and for others less. But above all you have to persevere and work; which I continue to do again and again because the road is long and beautiful.

How to hold on?

I try as much as possible to have a healthy life. It may be boring to hear it but, to really perform to the best of what you can give, you have to make sure you sleep enough, drink plenty of fluids and eat a balanced diet. On this subject, I am often asked if I watch my weight, and I do. But, with the experience that I am starting to have and the knowledge of my body, I realize that letting go of these issues and not worrying too much about our weight makes our body react better to these constraints. I am careful to maintain an athletic physique, but I have accepted my body as it should feel good.

And this project which puts you on display with dancers from Dancing with Stars. How did this happen?

I joined the D’pendanse troupe where I have the chance to learn and work alongside dancers who participated in the show Danse Avec Les Stars. It all started when a friend told me about the audition that this troupe was organizing. I tell him that I don’t see myself going there, I’ve never done a dance for two, I don’t really see how I could do well in the game. We end up going and I skip all the rounds. auditions that day. No news from them afterwards (this often happens) but they organized a second one a few months later, for the same project: a musical. And it was good.

A great relief to find a place in a major project?

Indeed, I was in a state of “Finally! It’s my turn!” The troupe is great, the project is promising and I can’t wait to start rehearsals. The fact that the troupe is well known makes the project even more attractive. Especially since I’m going to have the opportunity to go on a real tour for the first time, and to do it with them is just incredible!

Departing from the Bastogne academy

Clara Lambert began classical dance at the Bastogne academy at the age of 7 and continued her training there for ten years. With this experience, she joined Rick Odums’ school in Paris for three years to taste jazz, modern and classical dance. After a brief stay in London at Trinity Laban, she returned to to begin her professional career while continuing classes. “I first joined a cabaret near . The same year, I created my own company, La Compagnie Égrégore (which will perform in Belgium between 2020 and 2023), she remembers. also subsequently had the opportunity to work with Matteo Reggiori who would become my mentor and who is still a very close friend and coach today. After several projects and contracts as a freelance dancer, I also had the chance. of working at the Lausanne Opera for the winter season 22-23, for which I danced in the adaptation of the musical “My Fair Lady”. In October 2023, I join the Disneyland Paris group and their show. of the Lion King, performed at the Frontierland Theater I danced there for a first season for 6 months and I have been returning as a replacement dancer since October 2024. And, at the end of 2024, she joined the D’Pendanse troupe for a tour of France, Belgium and Switzerland.

Three dates in Belgium

The latest news for Clara Lambert is the tour of the D’Pendanse troupe until the end of March (while waiting for other dates, she thinks based on the first reports). Furthermore, she is also employed at Diseny until the beginning of March. She will be in Belgium on January 18 in Liège, on the 19 in Brussels and on the 22 in Mons. “I can’t wait to return to my country with this show, smiles the dancer. It’s really a pride for me to perform in venues where I went when I was younger. The pleasure is all the greater because my friends and my family will be there. Don’t hesitate to take your seats.”

Calliope’s role

The show “Bonne Nouvelle” recounts the adventures of Rose, a young metro singer, the Ballroom show and its dancers. It truly is a show within a show. Clara Lambert plays the role of Calliope, the little sister of the star of the show. She is a shy, slightly naive young girl who dreams of finally revealing and assuming her desires and her personality. “It’s a huge challenge for me,” admits the dancer. “I’ve already learned a lot about Latin dance and I’m going to continue. I’m working on the choreography a lot to live up to the trust that’s been placed in me. “

Never give up

Clara Lambert gives advice to young people motivated by the world of dance. “Don’t give up and give it your all. Really. Nothing predestined me to succeed in working in dance, except perseverance. I didn’t necessarily have either the raw talent or the body for it. But don’t don’t give up and work. You also have to surround yourself with the right people, whether professionally or personally, and staying true to your principles is also very important. And also, accepting that sometimes things happen or not for one. reason. Accept that we don’t is not necessarily made for a particular project, even if it was a dream.”

Sometimes four shows at the same time

Being a dancer is a demanding job. “My daily life depends enormously on the work periods and the contracts on which I workexplains Clara Lambert. If I have free time, I will take one and two classes techniques per day but, if I am already working in rehearsals or in shows 5, 6 or 7 days a week, I will try to rest as soon as possible. We have a job that very often requires much more rehearsal than public performance. It is sometimes very demanding on the body but also on the head, which must remember an impressive number of steps. I’ve already been on four different shows at the same time and you shouldn’t mix up.”
