The adaptation of the cult manga One Piece will return to Netflix soon. Release date, casting, narrative arcs… Here is everything we already know about this highly anticipated season 2 of the live-action.
Feared by fans of the original manga, the live-action adaptation of One Piece on Netflix nevertheless won the crowds. But after the 8 episodes of season 1, the desire to embark on another adventure alongside Luffy and his Straw Hat crew is becoming more and more pressing. So what do we already know about season 2 of One Piece ?
When will season 2 of the series be released? One Piece sur Netflix ?
Season 2 was made official by Netflix in September 2023, two weeks after the broadcast of the first episodes. This was not surprising, given the very positive feedback on the series from fans, but also from newbies to the subject.
For the moment, no precise date has been given for the broadcast of season 2. But since filming in South Africa should end soon, we can easily bet on a release at the end of 2025, on Netflix.
Note that the budget for this live-action adaptation is absolutely colossal: $18 million per episode, for a total of $144 million for season 1. For comparison, that’s more than Game of Thrones.
How many episodes are planned for this new season of One Piece ?
As with the first, season 2 will have 8 episodes. They will probably all be available again at the same time. However, in recent years, Netflix has developed an unfortunate trend regarding its flagship series: revealing them in several parts, on different dates, as is the case for Emily in Paris, The Bridgerton Chronicles or Cobra Kai. It cannot therefore be excluded that One Piece suffer the same fate.
