“I will never forgive myself”: Marine Le Pen returns to the exclusion of her father from the RN and criticizes the reaction of the Elysée to his death: News

In an interview with JDNews, Marine Le Pen spoke about the death of her father Jean-Marie Le Pen, his exclusion from the RN, and political reactions, notably that of Emmanuel Macron.

Jean-Marie Le Pen, controversial founder of the National Front, died on January 7 at the age of 96. While the Élysée mentioned in a press release “a historical figure of the far right“whose role now falls”of the judgment of History“, Marine Le Pen did not hide her disagreement, reports BFMTV.

If it was a dig, the judgment of History will be much more severe for Emmanuel Macron than for Jean-Marie Le Pen“, she replied, criticizing what she perceives as an ambivalent statement.

For Marine Le Pen, her father made political history by addressing “with perseverance“subjects such as immigration. She contrasts this role with that of Emmanuel Macron, whom she accuses of “to see nothing and above all to do nothing“.

A painful exclusion and unexpected tributes

Marine Le Pen also spoke of a decision that she considers irreparable, that of the exclusion of Jean-Marie Le Pen from the RN in 2015, after his controversial comments, particularly on the Occupation and the Shoah. “I will never forgive myself for this decision, because I know it caused him immense pain“, she confides, describing this decision as one of the most difficult of her life.

She nevertheless recognizes that her father’s repeated provocations made the situation untenable. While qualifying as “unfortunate“her determination to create controversies, she estimates”unfair” to reduce his career to these controversies.

Marine Le Pen also expressed her surprise at the tributes paid by the political class, which she did not expect “capable“to salute her father’s journey. She said to herself”pleasantly surprised” by certain reactions, while emphasizing the importance of the legacy he leaves in the French political landscape.
