Marine Le Pen speaks five days after the death of her father at the age of 96. The boss of the deputies of the National Rally in the Assembly explained, Sunday January 12 in an interview with JDDthat she does not “will forgive[it] Never” the decision to exclude his father, Jean-Marie Le Pen, from the National Front (ex-RN). “I will never forgive myself for this decision, because I know it caused him immense pain”explained the woman who succeeded her at the head of the far-right party in 2011.
In 2015, following new anti-Semitic statements from the founder of the FN, Marine Le Pen, then president of the movement, decided to exclude him from the party.“Making this decision was one of the most difficult of my life. And for the rest of my life, I will always ask myself the question: ‘Could I have done it differently?’”argues Marine Le Pen.
Regarding the numerous condemnations of Jean-Marie Le Pen, who notably referred the Shoah to “a detail” of History, the MP believes that “it’s a little unfair to judge him solely on the basis of these controversies”. “Over 80 years (of political life), unless you are a sort of Sarkozy or socialist ectoplasm, it is inevitable to have subjects which give rise to controversies”she notes, considering however that it is “unfortunate” that Jean-Marie Le Pen “got caught up in these provocations”. “The problem was that he was starting again”she adds.
