Marine Le Pen denounces the festivities organized after the death of her father

In an interview with JDD, the leader of the RN deputies says she “was pleasantly surprised” by the reaction of the political class after the disappearance of Jean-Marie Le Pen.

She had not yet spoken at length. Since the death of Jean-Marie Le Pen this Tuesday at the age of 96, his daughter and political heir Marine Le Pen had remained silent. With the exception of a short message posted the next day on the social network X, in tribute to his father. After the funeral celebrated this Saturday in a small group in La-Trinité-sur-Mer (Morbihan), the leader of the RN deputies granted a long interview on Sunday evening to the JDD, in which she talks in detail about this trying week for her on a personal level. The opportunity also to return to the festivities which were organized in certain cities in by the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA), in the wake of the announcement of the disappearance of its ancestor.

From the outset, Marine Le Pen deplores the lack “decency, respect” of some of the adversaries of the nationalist movement. “It’s a symptom of wildness”she castigates. Before continuing his charge, in an almost philosophical tone: “When we do not respect life, as delinquents do, we do not respect death either. However, respect for life goes hand in hand with that for death. To no longer respect death is to move away from civilization as our ancestors and previous generations built it.” If the former presidential candidate does not want to venture into the political arena, because it is too divisive, her niece, Marion Maréchal, had drawn a sociopolitical parallel between “those who celebrated” the death of his grandfather “are the same ones who danced on October 7”tragic date of the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel in 2023.

“It touches me”

Between embarrassed publications and reproachful messages, the detractors of the National Rally (RN) played, in truth, a delicate balancing act. While trying, overall, to respect the mourning of Marine Le Pen. “I was pleasantly surprised” compared with “systematic unfavorable treatment”confides the former boss of the party to the flame on this subject. Way for her to thank “those who adopted” and “behavior” respectful: “It touches me, that it affects my family, but also all of our voters.” “People are moved to see that we can, at a given moment, recognize that there are political adversaries, but that these are not enemies that we can dehumanize”she analyzes.

“I will never forgive myself” for excluding Jean-Marie Le Pen

In this same interview, Marine Le Pen also explained that she does not “will never forgive” the decision to exclude his father, Jean-Marie Le Pen, from the National Front (ex-RN) in 2015. “I will never forgive myself for this decision, because I know it caused him immense pain.” “Making this decision was one of the most difficult of my life. And until the end of my life, I will always ask myself the question: could I have done differently? she argues.

“Over 80 years (of political life), unless you are a sort of Sarkozy or socialist ectoplasm, it is inevitable to have subjects which give rise to controversies”, she notes, considering however that it is “unfortunate” that Jean-Marie Le Pen “got stuck in (his) provocations”.
