This Sunday, January 12, France 2 viewers will not find Frédéric Lopez in his charming house on the waterfront which serves as the setting for A Sunday in the countryside. We explain why and what replaces the program.
Since its launch in 2022, A Sunday in the countryside regularly suffered from the vagaries of chaotic programming. News, sports competitions, Frédéric Lopez’s confessions magazine often gives way to other formats. However, the show displays good audience scores, regularly exceeding 1.5 million curious viewers. And 2025 does not stop this habit of deprogramming. Barely a few days into this new year, already France 2 shakes up (partly) its Sunday afternoon schedule.
A Sunday in the countryside : why is there no episode on France 2 this Sunday January 12?
This Sunday afternoon, oval fans will indeed find a very nice Champions Cup poster between Stade Rochelais and Leinster, both leaders of Pool B. The meeting will certainly have an air of revenge for the Charentais club, which was stopped last year in the quarter-finals by the Irish team (40-13). The latter then reached the final where they were unable to do anything against Stade Toulouse (victorious 22-31). One thing is certain, there is likely to be a spectacle on the pitch at Marcel-Deflandre.

The European Cup will once again shake up the France 2 grid next week. Indeed, on Saturday January 18 at 4:05 p.m., viewers will attend the meeting between ASM Clermont and the Bristol Bears (pool B), while on Sunday January 18 at the same time, Stade Toulouse will host the Leicester Tigers. Title holders, the club led by Antoine Dupont is also leader of Pool A with Union Bordeaux-Bègles. Consequence: there will also be no A Sunday in the countryside. To find the Sunday magazine, you will have to wait until Sunday January 26. Frédéric Lopez will receive the comedian Donel Jack’sman, the singer Dany Brillant and the great reporter Dorothée Olliéric.
