Bruno Solo very honest about his new issue of The War of Thrones broadcast this evening on

War of Thrones returns for an eighth season… and with surprise guests! After being interested in the revolutionary era and having given the floor to Marie-Antoinette, Théroigne de Méricourt, and Pauline Léon, Bruno Solo continues his journey into the past, this time tackling a very important figure in our history: Napoleon I. For this first evening centered around the Bonaparte clan and broadcast this Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 9:10 p.m. on 5, the actor does not hesitate to don the famous bicorne of the emperor to tell, with as much passion as ever, the period of the Directory (1795-1799). First two exciting and informative episodes, interspersed with very successful reconstructions. The sequel promises!

I liked it but…“: Bruno Solo cash on the historic show Our History of Francepresented by Tomer Sisley

Télé-Loisirs: What does Napoleon Bonaparte mean to you?
Bruno Solo:
I have an ambiguous relationship with this historical character. How can you not be fascinated by a brilliant man who shook up France and Europe, whether for good or ill? But I don’t like his tyrannical side or his nepotism. He also had complicated family relationships which are at the center of this eighth season. This is the first time that we’ve done six hours on the same character because we have a lot of documented elements that allow us to reconstruct them.

Until what period do you plan to go?
B.S. : Ideally, I would like to go as far as 19th century France, Napoleon III and the Industrial Revolution… These are periods that particularly touch me.

What did you think of the film Napoleon by Ridley Scott, strongly criticized by historians… ?
BS: I was very disappointed! Apart from the battles filmed with the which are impressive and the feverish relationship between Napoleon and Joséphine which was attested in reality, the rest… there is so much information missing. Furthermore, everything is rushed and the political aspect is completely absent, it is unacceptable for a character like that. Director Abel Gance, for example, took him 7 hours to adapt it for the screen (in 1927, editor’s note)!

…. et Our History of France, the show hosted by Tomer Sisley ?
BS: I liked the show, I watched the first four episodes, it’s impressive… but I obviously prefer mine (he laughs). To be honest with you, I’m happy that War of Thrones can inspire other programs like Our History and with more resources!

I would like to create something new“: Bruno Solo tells us about his projects

Do you have any other formats in mind to continue exploring the story?
BS: Yes, I am thinking about adapting my books, History Visitors et The history traveler. How ? I don’t know yet! But it’s in the back of my mind. Maybe it will be on the Internet like a YouTube channel for example. I, who am on the fringes of social networks… maybe this is the opportunity! But for now I’m more into the idea of creating something new.

You never wanted to become a history teacher?
BS: Ah but completely! Beyond my parents who were passionate about history, it was my history teacher that I had in middle and high school who passed on his love for transmission to me. And after my baccalaureate, I told myself that if my acting career didn’t work out, it’s something I could do… and that has never left me today!

If you could go back in time, what historical period would you dream of exploring?
BS: I am fascinated by people who have a sincere and luminous faith. I would dream of being a spectator and watching this man who shook humanity: Jesus of Nazareth. So I certainly wouldn’t understand anything because it’s in Aramaic (He laughs). In fact if I could go back in time I would take the opportunity to go very far so I would certainly go to Rome in Antiquity at the time of Caesar. I would like to explore the state of the Earth, the quality of the air, the atmosphere, smell the smells… That’s why I wrote The history traveler besides because I’m a time traveler and it’s something that makes me dream!

You seem to favor theater and television over cinema. What guides your choices?
BS: I would favor cinema but no one thinks of me… You know I’m a craftsman so from time to time I unlock projects but the rest of the time I’m an actor motivated by the quality of the scripts I receive. If I have disappeared from the cinema radar, maybe I don’t inspire people in the industry, I don’t know (He laughs) whereas television has allowed me to play diverse and varied roles that never offered me the big screen even if I had the chance to do The truth if I lie! which helped me a lot in my career.
