Just a few days ago, American fans of Dexter were able to discover the latest spin-off of the franchise, Dexter : Original Sin. In this prequel, taking place before the first series, Patrick Gibson takes over the cult character initially played by Michael C. Hall. The opportunity for viewers to discover the first steps of the man who, at the very beginning of this new series set in 1991, was still only a medical student. And, from the first minutes, viewers had the answer to a question they were asking themselves…
Dexter : Did the serial killer played by Michael C. Hall really die at the end of the previous series?
Remember… Last July, during the huge annual Comic Con event, Michael C. Hall announced that a sequel to Dexter was in development and that he would reprise his favorite role in it. here. However, the previous part, entitled New Bloodended with the death of the serial killer! How, years later and while Dexter was commenting on his own death in the final seconds, did he come back? The first minutes ofOriginal sin explained this real-false death. The series begins with Dexter being seriously injured and taken to the emergency room in an absolute life-threatening emergency. There, his heart stops. But fortunately the doctors managed to resuscitate him. And it is a miraculous Dexter who then declares, with this voice-over which has become a real marker of the series: “It’s really like they say. You see your life flash before your eyes.”

Questioned by our American colleagues from Entertainment Weekly, head screenwriter Clyde Phillips returned to this most surprising resurrection. He first confirms that Dexter had indeed passed from life to death in New Blood : “He died at the end. I wrote this finale. He dies at the end of this series but…” And through this “more”Phillips expresses the real motivation behind this turnaround: “But this episode became the most viewed in Showtime history [le diffuseur américain de Dexter].” Following these excellent results, the channel immediately ordered a sequel, as well as the prequel. And there you have it, there was no need to look any further for the explanation of this miracle! While waiting to find the resurrected Dexter, French viewers will soon be able to discover the prequel Dexter: Original sin. It will be on Canal+ very soon…
