Episode 12 of season 7Outlander endangered the life of Lord John Grey. Is this one dead? Here's what the future might hold for him, according to Diana Gabaldon's novels.
The end of episode 12 of season 7 d’Outlander left the suspense hanging over the fate of John Gray (David Berry). While he was a prisoner of the Continental Army, he managed to escape, with the help of Doctor Denzell Hunter. But, while he was being chased in the woods at night, the episode ended with gunshots, without knowing whether they had hit John or not. After making us believe in Jamie's death for one episode, what about John Grey? Is Lord John dead? If you're dying to know the rest of the story, Diana Gabaldon's books, including Outlander is adapted, of course give great indications.
Outlander season 7: is John Gray dead?
If the series does not always follow the novels of the saga faithfully, making some modifications as with this detail which was changed due to the absence of two actors or the revelation of William's paternity which was also modified, it nevertheless remains quite faithful, especially in the main lines of the plot. In the novel Written in My Own Heart’s Blood (In the ink of my heart), after fleeing, John Gray comes across another group of rebels and poses as a patriot, Bertram Armstrong. He meets Germain Fraser, the eldest son of Fergus and Marsali, who promises to keep his identity secret. But when Jamie, now known as General Fraser, reviews his troops, Claire notices John and treats him.
Outlander : new characters linked to the Gray family should be introduced in the rest of the series
During the Battle of Monmouth, John learns that William is in danger. He then escapes to join the British army, where he finds his brother Hal and William. When the latter disappears after the battle, John and Hal try to find him, as well as Benjamin, Hal's son. If the series follows the novels of Diana Gabaldon and keeps all the characters, there should also be questions of marriage in the Gray family. We should also see the new character discovered in episode 12 of season 7, Jane Pocock, who William will come to the aid of. Season 8 finaleOutlander will also introduce new characters, including Amaranthus Cowden, who claims to be Benjamin's widow and the mother of his son. A role played by actress Carla Woodcock, seen this summer on Netflix in the series Murder instructions.
