Truman Capote is in the spotlight this evening, with an excellent biopic carried by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, and a documentary which looks back on the writing of the novel “In Cold Blood”. We also invite you to (re)see a classic of Spanish cinema.

Philip Seymour Hoffman, who tragically passed away in 2014, shines in this biopic which looks back on the life of the controversial American author. In 1959, in order to find inspiration, Truman Capote investigated a bloody news story, then began writing his masterpiece, The sang-froidwhich will bring him pain and glory. Outstanding.

The Truman Capote evening continues on Arte with this documentary which returns, in more detail, to the conception of The sang-froid. What were the links between the writer and the two murderers? Pedro in the kingdom of girls: “Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown”

In 1988, Almodóvar directed THE masterpiece of Spanish comedy, with this fake behind closed doors in a Madrid apartment which recounts the comings and goings of several women with strong characters… In the casting, the director’s usual troupe shines, with Carmen Maura, Rossy de Palma, Julieta Serrano and the very young Antonio Banderas.
